Who We Are
Wharekawa Adventure Education Trust (WAET)
Wharekawa Adventure Education Trust is a registered charitable trust with an appointed board. We may be a small organisation, but we have a big heart. We are committed to building strong and resilient rangatahi, whānau and communities through transformative long term programmes for youth.
The trustees all live and work in the Whangamatā and Ōpoutere area and have connections to Whangamatā Area School and/or Ōpoutere School – be it through their children, as staff, Board of Trustees, and are active in the community. Our volunteer board members are selected for their commitment to our kaupapa, governance expertise, community knowledge and specialisation within their sector.
All have seen first-hand the benefits and transformative changes Tōku Ara has had on rangatahi and their everyday lives and the potential long-term, intergenerational benefits it can have. WAET are proud to deliver the Tōku Ara contract for 2023.
